I just got the pieces from Larry and mocked them up for some pics. Hose covers are being sent out tomorrow. I should have my roll of tubing tomorrow. So everything is falling into place well. The tip is a bit oversize from what you usually see. I wanted it like that to see how/if I liked it. I like it that way alot.The diameter of the wood is about an inch. The acrylic sections are about 3/4". The tip might make the handle diameter look small. The wood is bocote. The acrylic is mainly turqouise as most of you are familiar with. I did not think the it would look right in turqouise so I decided for a more marble look. The overall length is around 1 foot.You'll notice I did not have Larry do a lot of grooves and shaping into the pieces. I figured the section themselves make a nice contour and you get a better effect of the natural beauty of the wood with some straight work. That was my thoughts though.So let's hear your thoughts. Plenty more to come guys. Like I said I have some changes from this mock up here so expect a different look in the final piece. I needed to get it in my hands before I could really run with what I wanted to do with it. I am very happy with Larry's work. This is to detail what I asked of him. Not that they're better that way but I think it adds to the ornate beauty of the overall hookah setup.Although I do love simplicity as well.Glad things are progressing nicely. I'm not sure I like the color of the thread but I wanted to run it past you guys. I've seen it too much from a bunch of pieces to where it is now and it's hard to be subjected. The earlier suggestions we're making notes of. Giant Ninja Robot Posted March 31, 2009 Share Posted March 31, 2009 THAT is awesome.If the rest of the acrylic pieces matched the hose tip that would be soooooo badass (yeh I know it's all customizable so color suggestions are silly lol).I'm loving the curved mouthpiece. LOVING it. What if their was some sort of flareout between the main handle segment and the curved portion, kindof like a cobra's hood? Would that be possible to do as part of a bored out wood segment? Not HUGE just something like a lip to rest the hose without the tip touching the floor or surface you leave it on if that makes sense.Also I was wondering if you've seen the Ba Bakir hose, it has a twisted pattern cut into it reminescent of those old barber poles.
